On 26 September at the initiative of the Turkmen side Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov had a telephone conversation with his Turkmen counterpart Rashid Meredov.
The Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation reports that the sides discussed the development of Russian-Turkmen relations and checked the calendar of high level bilateral meetings.
Let us recall that on 30 June Vladimir Putin’s spokesperson Dmitry Peskov reported on the forthcoming visit of the Russian leader to Turkmenistan.
The sides last discussed preparation for the visit of Russia’s President on 19 September.
On 17 September the Chairman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko who arrived in Ashgabat to attend the AIMAG opening ceremony, reminded of the preparation for the visit.
