Preparations Underway For Visit of Turkmen President to Russia

The Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov on Monday in phone talks with top Russian officials discussed issues related to the forthcoming official visit of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Russia.

The head of Turkmen foreign policy agency held talks with his Russian counterpart Sergey Lavrov and the co-chair of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Alexei Overchuk, according to the press services of Turkmen and Russian foreign ministers.

The Turkmen and Russian foreign ministers also considered organizational matters of the Sixth Caspian Summit that will be held in Turkmenistan.

Meredov, who also co-chairs the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Russian Commission on Economic Cooperation, in talks with Overchuk additionally considered issues of further strengthening bilateral ties in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic, and cultural-humanitarian spheres.

On Sunday, Dmitry Peskov, the Press Secretary of the Russian President, said the Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold their first meeting in Moscow in coming days.
