Turkish President Erdogan Arrives in Turkmenistan For Trilateral Summit

President of Türkiye Recep Tayyip Erdogan has arrived in Turkmenistan’s coastal city of Turkmenbashi on Tuesday night to attend the first summit of Heads of State of Turkmenistan, Türkiye and Azerbaijan.

Upon arrival at the Turkmenbashi International Airport, President Erdogan was greeted by Deputy Chairman of Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Türkiye Mevlut Cavusoglu, Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Türkiye Fatih Donmez, Minister of Transport and Infrastructure of Türkiye Adil Karaismailoglu, Türkiye’s Ambassador to Ashgabat Togan Oral and other officials, according to the Press Service of the Turkish President.

President Erdogan is accompanied by First Lady Emine Erdogan and Minister of Trade of Türkiye Mehmet Mus on his visit.

In a press briefing before his departure to Turkmenistan, Erdogan said this summit is mainly aimed at taking step on natural gas, adding that he hopes to bring Turkmen gas to Türkiye through the Caspian sea.

The summit between the Presidents of Turkmenistan, Azerbaijan and Türkiye will take place on December 14 in the Avaza national tourist zone in the city of Turkmenbashi (Turkmenistan) on the Caspian coast. The meeting is expected to discuss steps to further deepen cooperation between the three countries, primarily in the fields of trade, energy and transport.
