Turkmen Ambassador Makes Presentation of Arkadag City in Antwerp

Ambassador of Turkmenistan in the Kingdom of Belgium Sapar Palvanov met with Mrs. Cathy Berx, Governor of the Belgian province Antwerp, which is known for its economic and industrial potentials in Europe, on March 27, the Turkmen Embassy reported in its press release for media.

The ambassador made a presentation on the new Arkadag city, which is under construction on the outskirts of the Kopetdag Mountains.During the presentation, the envoy stressed that Arkadag is the first smart city in Turkmenistan and encouraged the Belgian official to explore the possibility of joint projects that actively attract investors from Antwerp in the fields of information technology, digitalization, urban planning.

During the meeting, the ambassador discussed with the Belgian official the strengthening of multilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and the province of Antwerp.Moreover, Ambassador Palvanov suggested Mrs.Berx establish twinning relations between the port cities of Turkmenbashi and Antwerp.

These cities have much in common: Antwerp has a seaport, which is second in Europe in terms of volume, and both cities have oil refineries.

The proposal was accepted with great interest and could bring the cities closer not only economically, but also in the fields of culture, education, and science.
