Turkmen Company Harvests Over 1.9 Thousand Tons of Tomatoes

Altyn Bürgüt Individual Enterprise harvested over 1.9 thousand tons of tomatoes from its 8.5-hectare greenhouse complex during 2019-2020 sowing season.

According to Türkmen Gündogary newspaper’s Thursday report, the company exports 85% of its harvest to countries such as Turkey, Russia, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

The company’s 14 greenhouses, located in Charjev etrap of Trukmenistan’s Lebap velayat, grow highly productive and nutritious varieties of tomatoes imported from Holland. These crops mature within 5-6 months. Up to 15 kg of tomatoes can be harvested from each bush.

The greenhouse complex employs around 100 people. The company plants 195 thousand seedlings each season. During the current season, Altyn Bürgüt already harvested over 400 tons of tomatoes and exported 300 tons of the crops.

Currently, only the first stage of the greenhouse complex is operational. After the completion of the entire complex’s construction, the area allotted for growing tomatoes will reach 21 hectares.
