Turkmen Deputy Foreign Minister Meets EU Foreign Policy Chief

The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Vepa Hajiev met with the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Josep Borrel on Friday in Uzbekistan’s Samarkand city.

The meeting took place on the sidelines of the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference: Global Gateway.

The EU foreign policy chief Josep Borrel said in a tweet that the meeting discussed “the importance of bilateral and regional cooperation, and using transformative power of green and digital agenda to increase benefits for our regions.”

“We are committed to keep collaborating in reducing global methane emissions,” Borrel added.

In his opening remarks during the the EU-Central Asia Connectivity Conference: Global Gateway, Borrel said for the next four years, the EU has allocated €300 million in grant funding, for both bilateral and regional projects in Central Asia.
