Turkmen Embassy in Ukraine Marks Magtymguly Pyragy's 300th Anniversary

The Turkmenistan Embassy in Ukraine celebrated the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy with a special event on January 23, 2024. The occasion marked the 'Ocean of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy' Year, the Embassy reports.

During the event, it was highlighted that Turkmenistan's initiatives at the meeting of the Permanent Council of the International Turkic Culture Organization (TURKSOY) received unanimous approval, designating 2024 as the "Year of the Great Poet and Thinker of the Turkic World, Magtymguly Pyragy."

Last year, on the initiative of Permanent Neutral Turkmenistan, the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy's birth was included in UNESCO's list of commemorative dates for 2024-2025. This recognition underscores Turkmenistan's growing international prestige.

The ceremony featured the reading of the poem 'Ocean of Wisdom of Magtymguly Pyragy' by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. Poems by Magtymguly Pyragy were recited in both Turkmen and Ukrainian languages.

The event concluded with a screening of the biographical film "Magtymguly," produced in 2014 to honor the 290th anniversary of Magtymguly Pyragy.
