At the end of November, the next film group of the “Turkmenfilm” Association named after Oguzhan will go to Uzbekistan to film a documentary about the classical poet Magtymguly Fragi. Filming will be in the ancient city of Bukhara, reports the publication “Turkmenistan: Golden Age”.
The film group will be headed by the young director of “Turkmenfilm”, Annadurdy Tashliyev, who is already known for his debut full-length film Binýat, shown on national Turkmen television.
In Bukhara, which became a major center of Islamic culture in the Middle Ages, many brilliant minds of the East were educated, including the great Magtymguly Fragi. According to sources, one of the first editions of Magtymguly’s poems was published in Bukhara in 1910 under the title “Divan of Hezreti Magtymguly”.
Let us remind that earlier films about places and people associated with the name and creative heritage of Magtymguly Fragi were shot in Russia (Astrakhan region), Azerbaijan, Iran and Türkiye.
