Turkmen fuel and energy complex counts on gas chemistry

Hydrocarbon resources of Turkmenistan are estimated at over 71 billion tons of oil equivalent, that is over 20 billion tons of oil and over 50 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.

The reserves of blue fuel at the supergiant Galkynysh, the world’s second largest gas field, are estimated at 27 trillion cubic meters, an article by Deputy Prime Minister Myratgeldi Meredov, who oversees the fuel and energy complex in the government, says.

There are three plants at the Galkynysh field, producing 30 billion cubic meters of commercial gas per year. The global companies contractors Hyundai Engineering, Petrofac International, CNPC Chuanqing Drilling Engineering Company Limited tiook part at the construction and launching of these plants, the publication reads.

Speaking about the prospects for the development of the fuel and energy complex, Meredov mentioned plans to build new gas chemical complexes in each province of the country. They will produce polyethylene and polypropylene, rubber and polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, methanol and other goods with high added value.

The implementation of these projects will significantly increase the jobs in the country, as well as expand the export potential of the Turkmen oil products sector.
