Turkmenistan Amends Social Protection Code

Turkmenistan has enacted a law amending the nation’s Social Protection Code. The law was published in the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper on July 18 and has officially come into effect.

The new version of the third part of Article 8 of the Social Protection Code, initially approved on October 19, 2012, now reads:

"Pensions and state benefits, upon the recipient's request, may be transferred to their bank account. In this case, individuals receiving pensions or state benefits are required to report to the relevant local office of the Turkmenistan Pension Fund once every six months.

The reporting process to the relevant local office of the Turkmenistan Pension Fund can be conducted through a digital system. The procedure for reporting by pension or state benefit recipients to the relevant local office of the Turkmenistan Pension Fund through a digital system will be approved by the Ministry of Labor and Social Protection of Turkmenistan."
