Turkmenistan and Japan Ink Bilateral Cooperation Documents

The 14th meeting of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committee held in Tokyo on Thursday resulted in the adoption of a package of documents on cooperation between the state concerns of Turkmenistan and Japanese companies in the gas-chemical industry, transport and water management and signing of a Declaration.

The Turkmen delegation led by Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov attended the meeting.

During the talks, the sides discussed cooperation areas between Turkmenistan and Japan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan said in its press release.

The parties stressed that Japanese companies have implemented several major projects in the gas-chemical and electric power industries in Turkmenistan.

The meeting participants also stated the successful development of joint cooperation in the areas such as transport, electricity, industry, finance, water and environment.

At the same time, the meeting focused on expanding cooperation in education and health.

Within the framework of the visit, Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov on Wednesday met with Nobuhiko Sasaki, CEO and Chairman of Japan External Trade Development Organization (JETRO), Atsuo Kuroda, the Chairman of the Nippon Export and Investment Insurance (NEXI), Nobumitsu Hayashi the Head of Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), and Tatsuya Watanabe, the President of Kawasaki Heavy Industries Ltd.
