Turkmenistan and Malaysia will expand cooperation in the development of Caspian sea fields

The oil and gas sector remains a strategic area of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia.This topic became one of the main ones at the talks between President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Malaysian Prime-minister Anwar Ibrahim, which took place in Ashgabat.

During the meeting, the head of state praised the activities of the Malaysian company Petronas, calling it one of the main partners of Turkmenistan in the energy sector.President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced that a number of key bilateral documents have been prepared to implement large-scale long-term projects in the oil and gas industry.

Based on these, large-scale work will soon begin with the participation of Petronas to develop new hydrocarbon deposits, as well as conduct research on promising oil and gas complexes in the Turkmen sector of the Caspian sea.
