Turkmenistan and Ukraine held political consultations at the level of deputy foreign ministers on Thursday, focusing on the development of trade and economic cooperation as well as prospects for bilateral relations, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan reported.
The Turkmen delegation was led by Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Ukrainian side was headed by Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Michenko. The sides reviewed cooperation in political-diplomatic and cultural-humanitarian fields and discussed future directions of bilateral engagement.
During the consultations, particular attention was paid to strengthening the legal and contractual framework of bilateral cooperation and expanding ties between the foreign ministries of the two countries. The sides also exchanged views on key issues on the international agenda and underscored the importance of continuing cooperation within international organizations, primarily the United Nations.
At the conclusion of the consultations, both sides reaffirmed mutual interest in further developing constructive Turkmen-Ukrainian partnership across a wide range of areas of mutual interest.
On the same day, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov, Ukrainian Deputy Foreign Minister Oleksandr Michenko and Special Representative of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry for relations with Central Asian countries Viktor Maiko.
