Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan resume work of the checkpoints "Hojeyli - Kunya-Urgench" and "Shavat - Dashoguz"

The issue of resuming the work of the Hojeyli-Kunya-Urgench and Shavat-Dashoguz checkpoints, which were closed as a result of restrictive measures due to the coronavirus pandemic, was discussed during an online meeting of the Turkmen-Uzbek working group on transport and logistics, which took place November 18th.

The work of checkpoints must be carried out in strict compliance with sanitary and epidemiological measures, according to the website mintrans.uz.

The meeting was held with the participation of the Chairman of the “Turkmendemiryollary” Agency Azat Atamuradov and the Deputy Minister of Transport of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdusamat Muminov, as well as representatives of the automobile, railway, aviation systems and relevant departments and organizations of the two countries.

The parties agreed to study the situation on the spot and develop appropriate proposals next week to ensure a positive solution to this issue.

Also during the meeting, aspects of creating favorable conditions for cargo transportation along the route "China - Kyrgyzstan - Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Azerbaijan - Georgia - Turkey - Europe" through the international seaport of Turkmenbashi were considered, the source said.

The agenda also included discussion of issues of intensifying work on the Ashgabat agreement with all participants in the international transit and transport corridor "Uzbekistan - Turkmenistan - Iran - Oman".
