Turkmenistan and World Health Organization (WHO) identified new areas of cooperation

The list of activities for 2022 in certain areas of cooperation was prepared by the Government of Turkmenistan and the Country Office of the World Health Organization.

As reported the press service of MFA of Turkmenistan today, this document provides for a set of measures aimed at preventing infectious diseases.

Among them the implementation of the Pandemic Influenza Preparedness Plan and the Guidelines for Epidemiological Surveillance of Acute Respiratory Infections, training of specialists, development of clinical treatment protocols, training and seminars.

Special attention is paid to measures to combat the coronavirus pandemic, in particular, infection prevention and control, informing the population about the risks, as well as the development and implementation of the National COVID-19 Vaccination Plan.

Also, activities dealing with implementation of the national strategy on noncommunicable diseases (NCDs), tobacco control, maternal and child health care, the development of roadmap for the reform of primary health care and others are provided.

Besides that, the list includes steps aimed at developing diplomacy in the health sector, establishing cooperation with the Central Asian Health Information Network (CARINFONET), as well as work on the transition and implementation of the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems (ICD-11), developed by WHO, training personnel on the ICD-11 classifier, coding for COVID-19 certification and public health surveillance.

In this regard, the document additionally includes a number of aspects for further digitalization of the national health care system of Turkmenistan.

The similar work is holding by the Government of Turkmenistan with International Committee of the Red Cross and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, noted in the message of the Turkmen Foreign-policy Department.
