Turkmenistan announced a high-level meeting on the ecology of the Caspian sea

On the 22nd of April, addressing participants of the Regional environmental summit in Astana, Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov announced plans to further strengthen cooperation between coastal states on environmental protection in the Caspian sea.

The head of state reminded that in August last year, Turkmenistan already hosted a meeting on the ecology of the Caspian sea at the level of deputy prime ministers of coastal states as part of the UN International conference for landlocked developing countries.

In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov specified that, continuing the established practice, Ashgabat will initiate the holding of the next high-level meeting in October of this year.The goal of the upcoming forum will be to reach a new stage of cooperation between the countries of the region.The main focus will be on issues of environmental well-being and preservation of the unique natural environment of the Caspian Sea.
