Turkmenistan Appoints New Mufti

Rahman Gurbanmyradov has been appointed Mufti of Turkmenistan under a decision by the Muftiate of Turkmenistan, according to Turkmen state media on Friday.

Under the decision, Gurbanmyradov was relieved of his previous duties as head of the Ahal province department of the Muftiate of Turkmenistan and chief imam of the province before assuming his new post.

Yalkap Khojagulyyev, who had been serving as Mufti of Turkmenistan, was dismissed from the position.

In addition, Wepamuhammet Ishangulyyev was relieved of his duties as Chief imam of Ashgabat and appointed head of the Ahal province department of the Muftiate of Turkmenistan and Chief imam of the province.

Under another decision by the Muftiate of Turkmenistan, Guychgeldi Agayev was relieved of his duties as Chief imam of the Ertogrul Gazy Mosque and appointed head of the Ashgabat department of the Muftiate of Turkmenistan and Chief imam of the city.
