Turkmenistan Becomes Largest Exporter of Tomatoes to Kyrgyzstan

Turkmenistan became the largest exporter of tomatoes to Kyrgyzstan in January-April 2021 by exporting more than 2,956 tons of tomatoes worth $3.15 million during the period.

Turkmenistan accounted for 55% of Kyrgyzystan’s tomato imports in the first 4 months of 2021, according to the data of the National Statistical Committee of Kyrgyzstan published in early June.

In addition to Turkmenistan, other exporters of tomatoes to Kyrgyzstan in January-April 2021 are Uzbekistan (more than 1,726 tons), China (455 tons), Iran (160.5 tons), Kazakhstan (120 tons), Turkey (900 kg) and Tajikistan (100 kg).

Compared to the same period in 2020, the volume of Kyrgyzstan’s tomato imports increased by 3 thousand tons ($2.8 million). In January-April 2020, the country’s tomato imports amounted to 2,348 tons ($2.5 million).
