Turkmenistan Exports 104 Thousand Tons of Tomatoes in 2022

The total volume of exports of greenhouse tomatoes from Turkmenistan made up 104 thousand tons in 2022, the country’s official media reports.

Turkmenistan was among the four largest suppliers of tomatoes to Russia in the previous year, and was the main supplier of these products to Tajikistan, according to the report.

The greenhouses in Turkmenistan equipped with special equipment to maintain optimum temperature, light, humidity and saturation of soil with nutrients, grow tomatoes of varieties Cherry, Rugantino, Fulton, Marmelance, Altes, Merlis, Huanita, and Tommimaro Mucho.

A total area of greenhouses for cultivation of vegetables, including tomatoes is 712 hectares.

Only in January of this year, around 5 thousand tons of Turkmen tomatoes were exported to Russia.
