Turkmenistan Extends Electricity Supply Contracts With Afghanistan

Türkmenenergo, the electric energy company of the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, will conclude additional agreements to extend the terms of contracts concluded with the Afghan state energy company Da Afghanistan Breshna Sherkat (DABS) for sending electricity from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov signed the Resolution authorizing the conclusion of the agreements, the country’s official media reported on Friday.

The agreements also set the volume and price of the electricity that will be supplied from Turkmenistan to Afghanistan.

According to the document, the Ministry of Energy of Turkmenistan, together with the Ministry of Justice of Turkmenistan, should prepare and submit proposals to the Cabinet of Ministers on introducing amendments and additions to the legislation of Turkmenistan arising from this Resolution within a month.

In addition to Turkmenistan, Afghanistan imports electricity from Iran, Uzbekistan and Tajikistan.
