Turkmen Foreign Minister Rashid Meredov and Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze stressed the dynamic development of cooperation between the countries during the meeting in Ashgabat, the Turkmen Foreign Ministry said in a message Nov. 29.
According to the message, the sides expressed commitment to the further development of cooperation between the two countries and exchanged the views on the cooperation issues.
"Stressing the prospects for the expansion of international transport cooperation, Meredov and Janelidze outlined the further plans to develop modern mechanisms that meet the real goals and requirements of the partnership," the message said.
Speaking about Turkmenistan’s energy policy, the sides expressed interest in the consolidation of efforts in the development of international energy cooperation.
The interlocutors also stressed the need to intensify the existing mechanism of cooperation between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
Meanwhile, Ashgabat and Tbilisi are reviewing the projects on the creation of the transport and transit infrastructure between the regions of the Caspian Sea and Black Sea.
Moreover, Georgia is an important link in the South Caucasus Transportation and Energy Corridor and it is ready to ensure reliable and safe transit of energy resources from the Caspian basin and Central Asia through its territory.
Turkmenistan ranks fourth in the world in terms of natural gas reserves.
