Turkmenistan’s Foreign Minister visits Georgia

Turkmenistan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Rashid Meredov has paid an official visit to Georgia.

The information website Georgia Online reports that on 17 July Meredov met with his Georgian counterpart Mikhail Janelidze.

In the course of negotiations the sides laid special emphasis on prospects of economic cooperation, including the development of transport corridor in the South Caucasus, trade and tourism.

Janelidze highlighted that Turkmenistan definitely plays a very crucial role in terms of the development of transport, energy and transit projects.

The delegation from Turkmenistan was also hosted by Georgia’s President Giorgi Margvelashvili. During the meeting the sides discussed the issues related to the development of trade, economy and energy cooperation.

Moreover, it has become known that Georgia’s Prime Minister Kvirikashvili is scheduled to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan in the near future.
