Turkmenistan introduces fees for owners of cargo trailers of foreign countries transiting its territory

The President of Turkmenistan signed a Resolution on introducing of fees and charges from November 15, 2020 to November 15, 2021 from the owners of trailers and semi-trailers from the countries-participants of the Agreement on establishment of Iran-Oman-Turkmenistan-Uzbekistan transport and transit corridor and the Agreement on establishment the Lapis Lazuli route, or foreign trailers and semitrailers transiting the territory of these states at the entrance to Turkmenistan and in case of non-use of auto haulage trucks of foreign states while transiting its territory.

The document is adopted in order to improve cargo transportation by foreign trailers and increase the competitiveness of the transport complex of Turkmenistan in the international cargo transportation system. Fees and charges will be collected by authorized banks and allocated at the State Fund for the Development of the Golden Age of Turkmenistan, the resolution reads.
