The demonstration participants were discontent with the fact that those affected by the hurricane which hit Lebap velayat a month ago are provided with no support. They also talked about rampant corruption, wide-spread violations of human rights, failure of the authorities to fulfill the obligations they had undertaken and called on international organizations to pay attention to the problems of Turkmenistan.

“680 million dollars were allocated for the International Association of Akhal Teke Horse Breeding whereas residents of Lebap have been left without financial aid after the hurricane”, one of the girls said.

The protest signs say “Dictator”, “We don’t need a DJ, a singer, a car racer or a writer, we need a President,”, “We are calling on the UN to interfere and urge the Turkmen authorities to stop human rights violations”.

Let us recall that the acts of protests requesting the President’s resignation were held in Istanbul on 15 and 29 May and on 11 and 20 May, 2020 – in Northern Cyprus.
