Turkmenistan Plans Visit of Japan’s Prime Minister

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Japan Atadurdy Bayramov said during a March 25, 2026, meeting with Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs Ayano Kunimitsu that the Turkmen side is ready to organize a visit by Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi to Turkmenistan at a time convenient for the Japanese side.

During the meeting, Bayramov expressed gratitude to Japan for its support in organizing the visit of Turkmenistan’s president to Japan in December 2025, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Japan reported Wednesday.

The sides discussed the implementation of agreements reached during high-level visits, as well as key areas of bilateral cooperation, including political, economic, cultural and humanitarian, and interparliamentary ties, as well as cooperation in energy security and engagement on multilateral platforms.

Kunimitsu also expressed appreciation to Turkmenistan’s leadership for assistance in establishing a humanitarian corridor that ensured the safe evacuation of Japanese citizens from Iran amid the current situation.
