Turkmenistan Prepares Legal Framework for Virtual Assets and Mining

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov chaired a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan on Friday focused on the development of the country’s digital economy.

The Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan H. Geldimyradov presented a draft roadmap for regulating virtual assets and implementing mining technologies in Turkmenistan for 20262030. The plan was developed following presidential instructions and recommendations from the national leadership.

The roadmap outlines the creation of a legal, technological, and organizational framework for a reliable digital asset market. It includes specific implementation measures, deadlines, and responsible agencies.

Key areas highlighted include studying international experience, drafting legislation, developing energy and communications infrastructure, attracting investment, launching pilot projects, ensuring cybersecurity, improving energy efficiency, and training qualified specialists.

President Berdimuhamedov approved the proposal and instructed the Deputy Chairman to oversee the implementation of digital technologies in the national economy.
