Turkmenistan Presents 2026 CIS Chairmanship Concept

Turkmenistan’s Ambassador to Russia Esen Aydogdyyev presented the country’s 2026 chairmanship concept Thursday at the first meeting of the Economic Affairs Commission of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) Economic Council, held under his leadership.

The concept lists priorities including strengthening transport, logistics, and energy connectivity among CIS states, implementing the “Integration of CIS Transport Corridors” initiative, hosting the CIS Economic Forum, and other key areas, the CIS Executive Committee said.

The commission also approved the draft agenda for the 109th CIS Economic Council and its 2026 work plan. The next meeting is scheduled for Feb. 18.

As part of its chairmanship, Turkmenistan will host a CIS Heads of State Summit on Oct. 9, 2026, in Avaza on the Caspian Sea coast.

A meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to the Russian Federation was held at the Embassy of Turkmenistan in Moscow
