Turkmenistan Proposes to Convene International Food Security Forum

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the plenary meeting of the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Tuesday, said Turkmenistan is proposing to convene a major international forum on food security in cooperation with the World Food Programme, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the UN Children's Fund (UNICEF).

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also expressed readiness to host such an event in the capital of Turkmenistan, Ashgabat, within the agreed timeframe, according to the official Turkmen media.

The Head of Turkmenistan also proposed convening a high-level meeting to commemorate World Sustainable Transport Day.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also made a proposal to create a Meeting on Security in Central Asia and expressed readiness to hold its first meeting in Ashgabat in 2024.

Another proposal put forward by the Turkmen President was the creation of the Caspian Environmental Initiative.
