Turkmenistan refused to join the OPEC-led output curbs deal

According to Interfax-Kazakhstan Turkmenistan does not intend to join the oil output cut agreement since it is not an OPEC member, an official of Turkmenistan’s oil and gas sector told journalists in Ashgabat after the forum of the International Energy Charter .

“The oil output cut agreement is not envisaged and we plan to pump the planned volumes”, a representative of Turkmenistan said.

Saudi Energy Minister Khalid al-Falih had previously held meetings with representatives of Norway, Egypt and Turkmenistan.Based on the results of the meeting he expressed confidence that the sides would join the oil supply cut agreement.

The OPEC meeting, where representatives of Turkmenistan had been invited, was held on 25 May. However, the delegation from Turkmenistan did not attend the meeting “due to their circumstances”.
