Turkmenistan Sends Aid Team, Supplies to Quake-Hit Türkiye

The plane carrying aid team and supplies for the earthquake victims flew off from Ashgabat to Türkiye on Tuesday morning, Turkish Ambassador to Turkmenistan Togan Oral said in a tweet.

The dispatch of the plane was overseen by the Deputy Chairman of the Turkmen Government in charge of healthcare, education and sport and the Turkish Ambassodor.

President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdymuhamedov and Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan and National Leader of the Turkmen people, sent messages of condolences to the heads of Türkiye and Syria over the earthquakes that caused numerous deaths and widespread destruction.

The death toll in ten provinces of Türkiye as a result of Monday earthquakes stood at 2,921, the country’s Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) said in its statement on Tuesday morning.

The U.S. Geological Survey measured Monday’s earthquake at 7.8. It said the quake was centered about 33 kilometers from Gaziantep. According to the AFAD, a total of 243 earthquakes occurred since Monday morning.

During the second half of the day, a second massive earthquake of 7.6 magnitude has hit the southeast of Turkey.

Many countries offered to send help, whether medical supplies, search teams or money.
