Turkmenistan showcases domestic cookers and vacuum cleaners two months after announcement (photo)

From May 2 to May 4 Ashgabat is hosting the International Household Exhibition.

The Furniture Center of the Ministry of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations, “Ashgabat’s Markets Association” and Altyn Asyr Shopping Center have displayed kitchen furniture and equipment, household appliances, television equipment, cordless telephones, computers, refrigerators, gas and electric cookers, washing machines, water heaters etc.

Public-private company and business association “Hojalyk harytlary” launched the assembly line for gas and electric cookers, electric stoves, microwave ovens and vacuum cleaners.

Let us recall that an announcement with regard to domestic manufacturing of household appliances in Turkmenistan was made only two months ago.On 11 March the state information agency TDH reported that within the framework of import substitution campaign the manufacturing of household appliances, including gas and electric stoves, electric ovens, microwave ovens and vacuum cleaners is scheduled to be launched.

As of now it is not clear whether Turkmen experts design appliances themselves or simply assemble them from imported parts.

Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov addressed the participants of the event with the welcoming speech.Thanks to a successful implementation of national programs committed to achieving social and economic progress of Turkmenistan, the residents are provided with luxury accommodation, equipped with modern furniture and household goods, made with the help of state-of-the-art technologies, — the address by the President says.
