Turkmenistan, Tatarstan Explore New Cooperation Directions in Ashgabat

The 10th meeting of the TurkmenistanTatarstan Joint Working Group on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation opened at the Ýyldyz Hotel in Ashgabat. A high-level delegation led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Tatarstan O. Korobchenko arrived in Turkmenistan to participate.

Relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation are strategic in nature, based on deep historical, cultural and linguistic ties. This dialogue is actively supported at the highest level and implemented through an effective mechanism the TurkmenistanTatarstan Joint Working Group.

The meeting agenda focused on reviewing the practical implementation of previously reached agreements and exploring promising areas of the steadily developing cooperation.

Opening the session, co-chairs expressed satisfaction with the high level of bilateral relations, built on principles of mutual trust and benefit. They noted a shared commitment to making full use of the substantial potential available for implementing joint projects.

Highlighting opportunities to expand cooperation in priority areas, both sides confirmed their readiness to deepen collaboration and specified prospective fields, including trade and economic relations, the oil and gas sector, energy, and industry.

Special attention was given to transport, communications and information technology, textile industry, agriculture and environmental protection, science, education, healthcare, pharmaceutical industry, culture, sports, and youth policy.

It was emphasized that the progressive development of mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation is supported by Turkmenistan’s favorable investment climate and its growing international reputation as a reliable partner.

Ongoing structural reforms, the course toward accelerated diversification and digitalization of the national economy, combined with rich natural resources and significant economic and export potential, provide substantial opportunities to expand TurkmenistanTatarstan cooperation.

The implementation of joint projects across various sectors is expected to bring tangible benefits to both sides.

The next session of the TurkmenistanTatarstan Joint Working Group on Trade, Economic, Scientific, Technical and Cultural Cooperation will continue on November 21.
