Turkmenistan to Use Excess Associated Gas to Produce Carbon Black

Turkmen company Hazar Güýji, in cooperation with state and Chinese companies, plans to build carbon black producing plants in the west of Turkmenistan, Serdarmammet Tachmammedov, deputy director of Hazar Güýji, told Neytralnyy Turkmenistan newspaper in an interview.

This project is aimed at efficient utilization of excess associated gas produced at oil and gas fields of the Turkmennebit State Concern (Turkmen Petroleum), thus preventing the negative impact of extraction on the environment and air layers.

One semi-mobile unit of carbon black production by the furnace method will have a production capacity of 1,500 tons per year. The main raw material for production will be 9 million cubic meters of associated gas per year.

For the implementation of this project it is planned to establish a new joint economic company with Turkmen National Oil and Gas Company NAPECO and "Hazar güýji" economic society.

The Chinese Fushun Zhenxing Chemical Engineering Design Co., Ltd. is the general contractor of the project.
