Turkmenistan took part in the session of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women

The 87th session of the UN Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW) began its work in Geneva.

On February 2, the delegation of Turkmenistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Myahri Byashimova took part in the session. The session reviewed the sixth periodic report of Turkmenistan on the implementation of the provisions of the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination against Women, Vestiabad.ru reports.

In their speeches, the delegation of Turkmenistan provided information on positive changes in the political, economic, legal and socio-cultural spheres for the period 2018-2023. These changes have made significant progress on a number of issues identified during the fifth review cycle in 2018.

The session of the CEDAW Committee will last until February 16, 2024.
