Turkmenistan will develop a national strategy on migration

Representatives of the Turkmen authorities and the International Organization for Migration discussed joint actions planned by the cooperation program for 2021.

The working meeting was held in the format of a videoconference on Thursday. The ministries of foreign affairs, finance and economy, labor and social protection of the population, the migration service, the State Committee on Statistics, the Institute of State, Law and Democracy of Turkmenistan took part in it.

The parties discussed issues related to the development of a national strategy on migration, collection and analysis of indicators in this area. In this context, the importance of the National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on combating human trafficking for 2020-2022 was noted.

At the meeting, the results of joint work were analyzed, priority measures for further plans, tasks for the future were determined.

IOM’s activities are aimed at streamlining and humanizing measures to regulate migration, helping to find practical solutions to migration problems and providing humanitarian assistance to migrants in need, including refugees.
