Western Union offices resume their operations in Turkmenistan

Correspondents of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” report that Western Union offices in Mary and Dashoguz have resumed their operations since 19 January. WU offices in Ashgabat were re-opened a few days earlier.

Long queues of those wishing to make money transfers to study-abroad students are being formed in front of “Senegat”, “Turkmenbashi” and Turkmen-Turkish banks in Dashoguz.

The amount of a transfer in provinces has been limited to $50, whereas the maximum of $200 can be sent from the capital.

Up until 10 December, 2020 residents from the provinces were allowed to make transfers of up to $100 through WU every other month. From January 10 to January 16, 2021 the limit was reduced to $50 and then the WU offices were closed.

Western Union closed their offices in Ashgabat on 4 January, 2021.Those who wished to use their services were informed that operations might be resumed on 15 January, 2021.
