Cotton mills of the Mary region have completed the preparation of seeds for the upcoming cotton sowing. As the tenants, guided by the land structure and economic calculation, so the Ministry of Agriculture of the country, based on scientific data and long-term observations, have oriented processors to seeds of local selection.
It is not the first year that cotton growers give their preferences over the Iolotan varieties of medium-and fine-fiber cotton. They are most suitable for local conditions and are much more productive than other varieties.
The complex of measures carried out at the cotton mills allowed not only to preserve, but also to improve the quality of the material prepared for sowing. This season, local craftsmen have rationalized the technology and installed units of their own design for additional cleaning of seeds from impurities and inclusions.
The entire process of seed preparation is monitored by employees of the Regional Seed Inspection. They determined that all the seed material, prepared by the plants for cotton growers for the sowing campaign, conforms to the first grade. In the first class of seeds, the germination rate reached 95% (in the second class, 90%).
“Work on the preparation of seeds is conducted jointly with the specialists of the Ministry of Agriculture and Environmental Protection all year round, says the Head of Procurement Department of Maryhlopok Regional Association Parahat Mamedov.
First of all, it is determined the distribution of varieties over the region. And immediately after sowing and before the cotton matures, the vegetation of the plant is monitored.
The best fields in terms of yield are chosen. The raw material from these fields is used for seed material. Our varieties out yield, up to 40 quintals and even higher per hectare.
Special attention is paid to the fine-fiber cotton variety. The cotton growers have an intention to increase their crops next year, and we must be ready for this.”
Currently, farms are starting to sample seeds from cotton mills, and storage areas have been prepared. There is still about a month before the cotton sowing in the southernmost region of the country.
And now the task of the cotton growers is to save all the seed material they have accepted until it comes, and, of course, plant the seeds in the soil in proper time.
