World Athletics will be the first federation to introduce prize money for Olympic gold

World Athletics will become the first federation to pay prize money for victories at the Olympic Games. Athletes who win gold in 2024 in Paris will receive 50 000 USD, reports championat.com.

At the 2028 Olympics in Los Angeles, prize money will be paid to all medal winners.

World Athletics chief executive Sebastian Coe said the decision underlines the organization's commitment to empowering athletes and recognizes their important role in the success of the Olympics.

The Olympic Games in Paris will be held from July 26 to August 11, 2024.
