World volleyball writes its history

Rita Subovo of Indonesia and Moroccan Bushra Hajij have gone down in history of volleyball by becoming the first women to lead the Asian and African Continental Volleyball Confederations, respectively.

Subovo was elected President of the Asian Volleyball Confederation at the organization’s virtual General Assembly.

“I know that when united, the Asian Volleyball Confederation will be unsurpassed in its mission to develop volleyball in Asia so that more and more people can enjoy this sport.

Volleyball is my life and I will continue to devote my life to it”, said Rita Subovo, who previously headed the National Volleyball Federation and the Indonesian Olympic Committee.

“The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) is committed to ensuring that women are represented both on and off the court. Ms Hajij and Ms Subovo have vast work experience in volleyball and sports management. And I have no doubt that they will contribute to development of volleyball worldwide”, FIVB head Ari Graça Filho said.
