Xi Jinping is re-elected as Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China for a third term

Xi Jinping was re-elected general secretary of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China at the first plenum of the CPC Central Committee of the XX convocation, reports the “Xinhua” news agency.

Xi Jinping was also approved as the chairman of the highest state military body of China, the Central Military Council of the People's Republic of China.

The forum deputies voted for his candidacy unanimously.

By tradition, the President of the People's Republic of China combines the posts of head of state and Chairman of the Central Election Committee.

A 69-years-old Xi Jinping occupies a post of the head of Chinese state and the Central Election Committee since 2013.
