YouTube learned how to cut copyrighted music

Video hosting YouTube has introduced an updated version of the Erase Song tool, which is now capable of more accurately removing copyrighted music from videos. At the same time, the new technology retains other sound elements, such as dialogue and sound effects, Ferra.ru reports with reference to TechCrunch.

YouTube CEO Neil Mohan noted that an advanced artificial intelligence-based algorithm can accurately detect and remove copyrighted music. This makes the job of content creators much easier.

However, the developers warn that in some complex cases the algorithm may encounter difficulties when trying to completely remove a music track. In such situations, creators are encouraged to consider other editing options, such as completely muting audio in problematic video segments.

After successful use of the Erase Song tool, YouTube automatically removes the flag for the presence of copyrighted material in the video.
