25.10.2019 | The Year of International Peace and Trust significant initiative of Turkmenistan

Speaking from the rostrum of the Baku Summit of Heads of State or Government of the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM), the President of Turkmenistan emphasized that the principles and ideals of the Movement, which were laid into its foundation several decades ago, were of particular demand today. “We, the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement, together with other members of the international community, should give a new powerful impetus to strengthening the global security, filling our activities in this direction with specific political and legal content and worldview approach,” said the President of Turkmenistan.

President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov specified the restoration and approval of trust and predictability as the basis for building up constructive, balanced relations in the international arena. “Recognizing its responsibility for the state of the world, Turkmenistan put forward the initiative to declare the year of 2021 as the Year of International Peace and Trust that was adopted by the Resolution of the UN General Assembly on September 12, 2019,” the President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said.

Taking the opportunity, the Turkmen leader expressed gratitude to the member states of the Non-Aligned Movement for their support and solidarity in the implementation of this significant initiative.
