500 African ostriches are kept on a farm in Ahal velayat

There are 500 African ostriches on the farm of entrepreneur Maysa Velmyradova in the Ak Bugday etrap of the Ahal velayat.

According to Jeyhun.news, the farm covers 5 hectares and is designed to keep up to 3000 ostriches.

The African ostrich is the largest of modern birds. It reaches a height of up to 270 cm, and a body weight of up to 160 kg. The bird adapts well to the climatic conditions of Turkmenistan, as it tolerates a hot climate well.

Meat and eggs of ostriches are a valuable nutritious product rich in microelements and proteins. The content of fat and cholesterol in an ostrich egg is much lower than in poultry eggs, which indicates its high dietary properties.

Feathers are used in the manufacture of shoes, gloves, bags and wallets, the source notes.
