A 12-year-old weightlifter from Turkmenistan took a sixth place at the Junior World Championship in Mexico

Ogulshat Amanova took a sixth place at the Junior World Weightlifting Championships in Leon (Mexico), the “Turkmenistan: Golden Age” website reports.

Being one of the youngest participants of the world’s Championship-2022, a 12-year—old debutante from Turkmenistan took 6th place among 12 athletes in the weight category up to 45 kg, setting three personal records - in the snatch (61 kg), the clean and jerk (75 kg) and the sum of the double- event (136 kg).

Ogulshat attends weightlifting under the guidance of his father, the coach of the School of Higher Sports Skills and the Turkmenistan national team among girls (under 17 years old) Gurbandurdy Amanov.

Medals of the World Championship-2022 in Mexico are contested in 20 weight categories by 205 athletes (115 girls and 90 boys) from 39 countries.

Turkmenistan is represented by seven weightlifters at these competitions: three in the men's tournament and four in the women's.

We remind that that Perhat Bagtyyarov won a small silver medal in the push exercise in the weight category up to 55 kg, lifting a 125-kilogram barbell. In the snatch exercise, he showed the sixth result — 97 kg. In the total of the double-event, he lifted 222 kilograms and eventually took fourth place.
