A telephone conversation between Chairperson of Turkmenistan’s Mejlis Gulshat Mammedova and Chairperson of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko has been held.
On 9 April the state information agency TDH reported that in the course of the conversation Matviyenko invited Mammedova to take part in the 47th session of the Interparliamentary Assembly of the CIS Member States.
Matviyenko also emphasized that “international CIS observers gave a high appraisal of the recently-held Parliamentary elections”.
Let us recall that the Parliamentary elections were held in Turkmenistan on 25 March.Gulshat Mammedova was elected a new Parliamentary speaker replacing Akja Nurberdyeva who hads occupied the post of the Parliament Chairperson from February 2007.
