Sources of “Chronicles of Turkmensitan” from regional khyakimlik’s offices reported that, in connection with the Presidential election scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan on 12 March 2022, regional administrations had been instructed to pay all salaries, retirement and other allowances for February as well as monetary gifts to women on the occasion of International Women’s Day celebrated on 8 March.
Every year, in honour of International Women’s Day, female students, employed residents and recipients of allowances or retirement benefits are paid an additional 60 manats ($17,1 using the official rate or $3,3 at “the black market” rate) on behalf of the President.
Housewives and self-employed females are not entitled to receive this bonus .
State-run enterprises and organizations are obliged to report to etrap and municipal khyakimlik’s offices on completion of the payment. In case of any financial problems executives are obliged to inform the khyakimlik’s office to take prompt action.
In addition, banks have been instructed to ensure unhampered access to bank offices and ATMs to withdraw salaries, retirement or other allowances.
Meanwhile, according to “Chronicles of Turkmenistan”, the January salaries of many employees of Ashgabat state-run enterprises and organizations were delayed.
A staff member of the Turkmen television channel said that he received his January salary only on 22 February despite the fact that it is usually paid in the first week of the month.
Salaries of employees of many other organizations, for instance, those who service elite apartment buildings (concierges, gardeners and cleaning staff) have also been delayed.
