Amber Heard found guilty in libel case and will pay Johnny Depp 15 million USD

In a high-profile trial between Hollywood actor Johnny Depp and his ex-wife Amber Heard, a final verdict has been reached. After 14 hours of deliberation, a jury in the US state of Virginia ruled and awarded 15 million USD in damages to Johnny Depp in a libel suit against Amber Heard.

According to the jury, the actress defamed her ex-husband. During the trial, which has been going on since April, jurors heard a total of more than 100 hours of testimony.

The trial was supposed to start back in 2019 but was delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Johnny Depp’s lawyers, after Heard’s Washington Post article, sued the actress for 50 million USD for defamation. According to the actor, this publication cost him a contract with Warner Bros for the “Fantastic Beats” film series, according to which he was supposed to play in five films, reports rbc.ru.
