Ashgabat traffic paralyzed because of the session of the Council of the CIS Heads of Governments

On 31 May Ashgabat was hosting the session of the Council of the CIS heads of governments. The majority of the event participant arrived in the Turkmen capital the day before.

In this connection the central streets including Atabayeva, Gerogly, A. Niyazova, Andalib, Alisher Navoi and other streets were partially or fully cordoned off for public transport for two days.

Public transport is no exception. Buses 1,9,13, 20, 23, 34, 37 and others run rarely or have changed their routes.

Numerous police officers wearing a uniform keep vigil in each street.

City residents told a correspondent of “Chronicles of Turkmenistan” that it takes them 3 to 4 hours to get home.
