Belarus calls for FTZ for services, common procurement market in CIS

Belarus calls for setting up a free trade zone for services and the common procurement market in the CIS as soon as possible, Belarus' Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said at the CIS Heads of Government Council meeting in Tashkent Nov.3, BelTA has learned.

The CIS has been working on its free trade zone for services for six years already. The prompt completion of the work on the agreement on the free trade zone for services will guarantee the development of a big regional center of modern and high-technology services in the CIS.

The common procurement market is another issue on the CIS agenda. It plays the key role in the free trade zone. Openness and equal conditions in this segment mean the potential for growth of mutual trade in the CIS. It is important that the reached agreements are implemented in full and cover all the CIS member states.

Cooperation in the CIS is broad in scope, with the economic sector remaining at its core. Belarus keeps drawing attention to such matters as the development of common markets and equal conditions for economic activities.

Andrei Kobyakov is paying a working visit to Uzbekistan on 2-3 November. The Belarusian premier has already met with Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov and Kyrgyzstan Prime Minister Sapar Isakov.
