Berdymukhammedov pardons 982 Turkmen nationals and 53 foreign nationals

The state information agency TDH reports that at the Cabinet session held on 7 May, 2021 President Gurbanguly Berdymukhammedov said that on the occasion of the holiday Gadyr gijesi he would hold an act of pardon.

The head of state signed the decree to pardon 982 Turkmen nationals and 53 foreign nationals.

Deputy Prime Minister overseeing security issues Charymyrat Amanov was charged with the task of ensuring those pardoned are released from prison and return to their families and home communities. Khyakims of velayats, etraps and cities as well as other officials have been instructed to provide them with jobs.

Gadyr gijesi Laylat al-Qadr, the Night of Decree and Power, is celebrated on the 27th day of the Muslim Month of Radaman. Muslims believe that the Night of Qadr comes with blessings and mercy of God in abundance, when sins are forgiven and prayers are offered.

“Chronicles of Turkmenistan” previously c that in the height of the agricultural works the Koitengag etrap authorities in Lebap velayat tried to confiscate plots of land from land tenants and to hand them over to those pardoned pursuant to the President’s decree.
